Monday Night Football Week 12
(0-10) Miami Dolphins vs. (7-3) Pittsburgh Steelers
Up until this past Sunday this game seemed like a sure win for the Steelers. That was before they lost to the 1-8 Jets. Also, it isn’t as if the Dolphins have been blown out in every game. Seven of the Dolphins ten loses have come by ten points or less. By all accounts the Dolphins appear to still be given it all despite injury after injury. First it was Trent Green that went down in week five with an apparent career ending concussion. Just two weeks after that Miami leading rusher Ronnie Brown went down from a season ending injury. Leading the Dolphins at quarterback after the Green injury was Cleo Lemon, but only three touchdowns and two interceptions later they made the move to John Beck for their loss this past weekend to the Philadelphia Eagles. Beck went 9 for 22 with 109 passing yards. It is unsure which player will start, but it’s no secret that the Dolphins are hoping for good things out of Beck, so he may get the nod the rest of the way. Their best offensive threat has been Chris Chambers. Chambers has caught 31 balls but zero touchdowns. It’s been that kind of year. They do get often suspended Ricky Williams back in a couple of weeks. Maybe he can help lead them to their first victory.
Prior to the unexpected Jets loss, the Steelers had been rolling. Many experts believe that they may be a team that can seriously give the New England Patriots a run for their money. That game is three games away, and in order to prove themselves worthy they can get a good start on Monday Night football against the Fins. “Big” Ben Rothlisberger has made a nice return to form after struggling a bit last year. He has a remarkable quarterback rating of 110.2 for the year. His career rating is just over 92. His main target has been Santonio Holmes, who has found the end zone six times in his 34 catches. Tight end Heath Miller has also added six touchdowns.
By all accounts Pittsburgh should win this game. They are playing at home, and are much better on both offense and defense. They are coming off the tough loss, but they have a great leader that should be able to have them bounce back well. I’m taking the Steelers by something like 35-14.
