Monday Night Football Week 13
(4-7) Baltimore Ravens vs. (11-0) New England Patriots
At this time of the year most games have big playoff implications. This is not one of those games. Yes, a record is important, but it’s that of the New England Patriots, and if they will be able to challenge the undefeated season of the New England Patriots. A lot of football experts are suggesting that the Philadelphia Eagles, who played a close game against the Patriots last week, have laid out the “blueprint” on how to beat the Patriots. I disagree. The fact that this is the NFL is the reason that game was close. No matter how good you are you will at least sometimes find yourself in a close contest. How else could you explain a one win team in the Jets beating the Steelers? If the Ravens are confident heading into this game because the Patriots had a tough game last time out is one thing, but in no way should they hang on to that as to that’s why they are going to win the game.
The Ravens after all are 4-7, and just about need to win the rest of their games to have any kind of shot at the playoffs. Playing the Patriots are bad enough. However, after the Patriots game, in New England, they have to play the Colts the following week. Yikes.
With each passing week the Patriots are seeming like a team of destiny. They’ve had two close games this year, the Colts, and the already mentioned Eagles. The rest of the way they have one tough game appearing on their schedule, the Pittsburgh Steelers. Up until a couple of weeks ago many believed that Pittsburgh may be the team to put a halt to the Pats great start, but after back-to-back stinky performances, that tune may have changed a little bit. Of course the Pats would love to finish the season undefeated, but it would be all for nothing if they were unable to top that off with a Super Bowl victory. I’m guessing they would trade a loss for a Super Bowl title if they had the choice.
Usually at this point in my writing I predict who will win the game, sometimes with good accuracy, sometimes not so much. With this game though I believe a blind man who has never even heard a game on the radio would pick the Patriots to win. They are led by Tom Brady who is putting up numbers that resemble those of a video game. He’s on pace to throw for over 5000 yards and nearly 60 touchdowns. In fact, those numbers are better then most can achieve in even video games. They are playing in New England, the Ravens are on a downslide, and the Pats are going to be mad. You tell me who’s going to win and by how much.
